(1931- )
Lillian Lee Kim was born in Old West-bury, Long Island, and married publishing icon Peter Pulitzer. She became famous when one of her dresses was worn by First Lady Jackie Kennedy in the early 1960s. The company grew to consist of a chain of stores in the 1960s and 1970s. The stores closed in 1984 but, due to a resurgence of all things 1960s, Lilly Pulitzer was revived in 1993. Today there are more than 77 stores nationwide. She is best known for her Palm Beach look consisting of vividly patterned prints and resortwear.
